Women @ The City

"Being part of Women@TheCity is inspirational... By hearing all voices we can shape a future that is inclusive, appreciates diversity, and has at its roots, social equality." - Heather Morrison, Women@TheCity member

Women @ the City is a collective of City of Edmonton employees designed to address issues of gender inequality within the structure of municipal employment.

They currently have a two pronged focus of networking and mentorship, and policy and research.

The networking and mentorship group has created opportunities for employees to both casually and formally engage with City leaders, in order to enhance networks and develop mentorship. They plan to facilitate further leadership and career development through workshops, resources and a continuum of mentoring opportunities to support the needs and interests of female staff within the City of Edmonton.

The policy and research group is researching, developing and implementing best practices to ensure City of Edmonton policies are fair to women, and directly address issues and needs that are unique to women's experiences.

Together, these two groups are ensuring the City of Edmonton is an employer of choice, and is a leader in fostering opportunities and building capacity for women in the workplace.

If you are a City of Edmonton employee, and you wish to find out more about Women @ the City or get involved, please ask your supervisor to connect you through the Community Services department.
