In this dynamic interactive session about women and leadership, come learn more about what it means to be a leader.  You will have an opportunity to explore your own personal leadership interests and potential and learn about opportunities and resources to further develop your leadership skills and experiences.

Gender Based Analysis – What is it All About?

Gender Based Analysis + is an innovative leading-edge resource to ensure diversity is being considered when making program and policy decisions at a corporate level. Come learn about what it entails, and hear practical examples showcasing how it’s been used and made a difference. This approach can be used by everyone to truly support an inclusive approach within any organization and community.

Strengthening Indigenous Women’s Voices

This session will feature stories from three speakers as they share personal successes and challenges.  Participants will also have an opportunity to discuss effective strategies and ideas to support indigenous women in Edmonton.

Creating Your Own Community – Experiences of LGBTQ Refugees

With homophobia, queerphobia, and transphobia rampant around the world, Edmonton is fortunate to be the safer place for many immigrants and refugees to settle. Come hear the stories of LGBTQ immigrants and how they created a community for themselves in Edmonton

Edmonton Women in Politics

This session will explore experiences of women in the public eye as they ran for elected office and worked to serve in those roles. We will be discussing the process and experience of running a campaign that leads to election as well valuable learnings from campaigns that did not result in being elected.   The importance and value of having women representation in politics will also be covered as well as other issues and resources that may contribute to increasing number of women in politics in Edmonton.

Women in the Workplace – Trailblazers in Business

Hear from three different successful businesses in Edmonton which are led by women. You will be inspired as they share their reflections, journey about how and why they got started, learnings, challenges, resource information and what it means to be woman entrepreneur in Edmonton.  

Growing Women Leaders and the Experiences of Immigrant Women

This session will explore the experiences of immigrant women and leadership opportunities in Edmonton. Two speakers will share their stories and the experiences of other immigrant women and highlight how they have provided support and inspired other women as influential community leaders. The session will also include a discussion what leadership means in multicultural context, opportunities, and challenges for immigrant women and how immigrant experiences compare to the experiences of other women leaders.

Steps to Youth Leadership

Four young speakers will share their learnings, experiences, innovative community resources, and the importance of supporting all youth to be leaders in the community.
